Taekwondo is a Korean martial art.
The origins of Taekwondo can be traced back over 2,000 years to ancient Korea.
The earliest records of Korean martial arts date back to the kingdom of Goguryeo in the first century BCE.
The Japanese occupation of Korea from 1910 to 1945 had a profound impact on the development of modern Taekwondo.
After Korea gained independence in 1945, efforts were made to revive and unify the martial arts of Korea.
Korean martial arts leaders came together and decided to unify the different styles under the name "Taekwondo." The name "Taekwondo" was officially adopted on April 11, 1955.
In recent years, there has been an effort to unify various Taekwondo styles and organizations under the World Taekwondo (WT).
Today, Taekwondo remains an integral part of Korean heritage and continues to inspire individuals to cultivate physical fitness, mental strength, and personal growth.
